Ruff (Philomachus pugnax) [reeve, juvenile], Wilstone Reservoir, Hertfordshire, 25/09/2011 (1 of 9). This was my second morning with this wonderfully confiding young female. My first few hours with her 4 days previously had been pretty magical as she'd fed right in front of me, preened, stretched, yawned and remained active but close by. Unfortunately, on that day, the light wasn't great. I was very happy to have her company and the sunshine during this second session. She remained within about 30 feet of me (just off the jetty at Wilstone), feeding, posing, and 'forcing me' to take hundreds of photographs!
