Firecrest (Regulus ignicapillus), Wendover woods, Buckinghamshire, 24/05/2011. My first encounter with this species was to find two parents busily feeding 3+ fledglings. They were oblivious to my presence, and in trees just about head height, but the darkness under the canopy meant photographs were virtually impossible. The main photograph was shot at 1/6s shutter hence the ghostly appearance of the moving birds. The insert was taken with the flash, achieving 1/40s shutter.
