Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca) [female], Weston Turville Reservoir, Nr Tring, Buckinghamshire, 18/04/2013. My first sighting of this lively little species. A passage migrant, wintering in West Africa and now on its last leg of the return journey to breeding grounds in the west of the UK. This was the second female to turn up in the area in less than a week. She spent a great deal of time flycatching and defending herself from a very aggressive local Robin! Shots were rather distant and ISO800 but I was pleased to get any kind of record of such a pretty species.
