Goldeneye (Bucephala clangula) [7 females, 4 males], Stocker's Lake, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, 17/02/2013. 11 of the 13 birds I counted present at Stocker's today. A beautiful sight when they are bathed in sunshine. Unfortunately, they stay extremely distant. I also found one of the male Smews skulking around a very distant island today. Thankfully, I was in a hide with someone with an 80mm Swarovski scope - it was a win-win situation! I had fantastic views of the bird and the scope owner was thrilled I'd found it for us to enjoy.
