Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) [pair], Marsworth reservoir, Hertfordshire, 14/03/2013. After weeks of icy NE winds and wintry conditions, the temperature finally rose a little today and the sun came out. Bliss. Whilst photographing this obliging pair, a Water Rail squealed from the reedbed nearby, a Cetti's Warbler sent out a burst of song and a pair of Mistle Thrushes made themselves known. Around Startop's End reservoir, the Water Pipit was feeding along the SW shoreline and 2 Grey Wagtails flew back and forth.
